0203: Share workflow checks with local verification
Status: accepted (2026-10-10) · Scope: development checks
Context
Section titled “Context”Hosted checks expose failures after a push. The core and dashboard already have local test commands, but no single command covers both surfaces and the packed Node package. Their workflow steps can also drift from local instructions.
Alternatives considered
Section titled “Alternatives considered”- Emulate the complete workflows in Docker. That adds a runner dependency and still cannot reproduce GitHub’s trusted-publishing identity locally.
- Remove hosted checks. That loses the independent runtime and installer checks required before a release.
Decision
Section titled “Decision”bun run check:local runs the existing checks in order and stops on the first
failure. Named groups select core, integration, packed-package smoke, or dashboard
checks. CI and Web call those same groups. The script resolves its repository
from its own location and uses child argument arrays without a shell.
Hosted checks retain pinned Node runtimes, installer coverage, and release authority. Local verification never publishes, pushes, or opens a release PR. Workflow email delivery remains a separate GitHub account preference.
