harn open
harn open <url> [--dry-run]harn open opens an http or https address in the operating system’s default
browser and returns at once. Nothing is attached to the browser, so the page
opens in the person’s own browser with their own sign-ins, exactly as if they
had clicked the link.
Agents deliver a page as a link and open it only when the person asks to see
it (“show me” counts). Agent apps launch browsers in different ways, and some
approval reviews refuse a bare shell launch of an address, so this one command
gives every adapter the same path. The
harn-computer skill routes to it.
| Host | How it opens |
|---|---|
| Windows | The URL protocol handler (rundll32.exe url.dll,FileProtocolHandler), which takes the whole address as one argument |
| WSL | The same handler on the Windows host, so the page opens in the Windows default browser |
| macOS | open |
| Linux desktop | xdg-open |
Any address that is not http or https, such as file: or javascript:, is
refused with exit 1. --dry-run prints the command it would run and opens
nothing.
